History of the Packers

They first became a team in 1919, they were first called together by Curly Lambeau, which is what they named their field after.  Their first stadium ever pnly a held a couple hundred at most, but in their advantage were always full.  Since then they have won 4 superbowls, which ranks in the top 5 for all teams existing.  Over 140 players/coaches have been inducted into The Hall of Fame.  These are just a few facts about the Packers and that is why they are one of the best teams ever.

Rookies

Two of the biggest names that the Green Bay Packers selected were Running Backs Eddie Lacy, and Jonathon Franklin, one from Alabama and the other UCLA.  Why these running backs will benefit the Packers on and off the field with all of their talkents.  Lacy was ranked the number one RB according to Mel Kiper and the Packers STOLE him in the second round which most people think is the biggest steal of the draft.  Being a beast on the field but also off, Eddie Lacy is one of the most well known names coming out of this draft.  Being in the Alabama market and winning all of those titles he is destined to make an immediate impact on the Packers once he throws that jersey on.

How its getting paid

Since the public could not fund this or at least the Packers did not want any funds the Green Bay local economy will benefit 140 million dollars.  That money will go towards Lambeau field Atrium, which is right next to the field.  The main reason for this project was to intensify the game.  Ted Thomson said,"It is going to be a crucial addition to the stadium, giving us that much more of an advantage."

The long process

This project started September 1st and last for 32 months.  It will all be ready in the very start of the 2013 season.  The current seating will be 72,928 after this renovation and will be a huge advantage for the Packers.  The happiest of them all is owner Ted Thomson.  He is very ecstatic about this project because of the huge homefield it will oppose on the away team.

Where the seats will be added and the inside additions of the renovations

Roughly 3,000 will be added to the South side end zone.  Meanwhile in the North end zone will seat around 7,000.  These new additions will create a huge homefield advantage for the Packers, even though they dont need it because they are the best team in the NFL.  The will also add some new gates and will have 6 elevators on the bottom level.  Lastly they will add some more suites which will generate more money then most people believe.

Unique additions

Along with the new walk through area and the purchase of the 28 acres by the stadium, they also had some other cool things.  They now purchased around 5 x-ray machines so when a man goes down they will get treated right away.  They got new locker rooms along with some courts.  They got some basketball and racquetball courts that they can use in their free time or after a light practice to keep their competitiveness up.

The Fiscal impact of the project

With this huge project almost being done, that 42,000 dollar study estimated that the Fiscal impact of taxes to local and state government from training camp and packers game totaled to be a in the range of seven to nine million dollars.  With the study lasting 10 years they project the final amount around 75-90 million over that span of time.  Like i said in a previous post the Packers pay for everything and will not take donations or other public funds.

With plenty of land around Lambeau Field and plenty of demand for seats, the Green Bay Packers believe that they can pursue development opportunities and bring in more money for the local economy. The team's atrium (top right in photo) has helped increase the team's revenue and economic impact.

Since the last renovation in 2003

Since the addition of the 10,000 new seats, those seats will create a 17,000,000 in spendings PER year.  The last redevelopement which was in 2003 only seated around 62,300.  With the additions of these seats it has impacted 110,000,000 dollars more.  They think the next renovations will be early 2020's, and that will add even more seats and then rerenovate the outside.

Fun facts about the renovation

Lambeau Field was just renovated they DID NOT create a whole new stadium.  The Packers and the Bears renovate their stadiums, but have not created a new one.  They also purchased 28 acres of land near the stadium, they will use that as part of their training camp.  10 Packer home games in 2009 had an economic impact on Brown County of 124 million dollars.  The Packers first game at home next season is again RG3 and the Redskins in 2013.

How much the Packers will make per home game in 2013

With the addition of these 10,000 new seats it is an estimated that the Packers will make roughly 12.3 million dollars.  The Packers have 8 regular season games at home and will have atleast 2 home games in the playoffs because they will get the number 1 seed.  For training camp its estimated that the packers will make between 5-6 million dollars.  A 42,000 dollar study was done to come up with these figures, this study will last the next 10 years to track how much money they will actually make.  The link below is huge and has a ton of information, but thats the study.

Wages and Tax revenues etc

This project alone created 60,000,000 dollars in wages, and like i said before a majority of it stays locally in Wisconsin.  15.2 million dollars were in tax revenues alone.  The Green Bay Packers paid for every cent that these renovations cost, no donations or public money was spent in support of these new additions.  Everything will be built and ready for the Packers upcoming season in 2013, including training camp which will start in the summer.

95 percent of the companies that are on this project are from the local county of Brown.  The other 5 percent were a combination of companies from Indiana, Georgia and Oklahoma.  An estimated impact on the local economy was roughly 282 million dollars just off of this one renovation.  124 million of the 282 million was earned.  Brown county has a popultion of 241,000, this job alone got 2,560 jobs created most of which came from Brown.

How many jobs and how many seats did it produce

The  Lambeau field renovation created more than 2,500 jobs all of which are locally.  Roughly 95 percent of the companies were from Brown County.  Ted Thomson the owner of the Green Bay Packers said, " This project will give the Packers an even bigger home field advantage".  This project will create around 10,000 new seats, half in the South end zone and half in the North endzone.  Most of the renovations were done on the outside structure of the stadium, but a few were done in the inside.  Like elevators, new gates, and an indoor basketball court at their training camp.
